Post Pandemic Approach to Urban Planning - Vol.18(1), Jan-March - New Delhi Institute of Town Planners 2021 - 95-102p.

This paper presents the current debate whether planning concepts and norms be changed
considering the fact that epidemics and pandemics like Covid - 19 are comparatively
short lived, generally for 2 to 3 years and reoccur after long intervals. Whereas urban
planning and development is a long range process covering many generations. So one
view is that after the pandemic subsides, urban life will come back to normal on its
own, therefore let the changes in urban planning concepts take place on its own pace.
However, things can not be taken for granted and we must plan taking all threats into
consideration. Thus, it is high time that planners start thinking about new concepts in
planning to keep pace with new normal.
