Authenticity in the conservation of historical architecture - Vol.86(6), June - Mumbai Indian Institute of Architects 2021 - 102-105p.

Architecture is a reflection of time, culture, and place.
Building form, elements, materials are reflections of culture.
The cultural significance of a place or object is created by the
meanings, uses, or benefits attributed by distinct societies to
something they define as a legacy. Buildings speak about the
culture that they were built as a part of : that when, why, how,
and by whom it was constructed. As a result, it serves as a link
between the past, present and future. Honesty in architecture
here may be understood as the authenticity of historic archi-
tecture and honesty in creating a new architecture.
