Remediation of medication error : salience of labeling - Vol.53(4), April - Mumbai Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Science 2021 - 12-13p.

Over The Counter (OTC) medication labels are not given due importance despite consistently being the primary approach for minor
ailments. Drug label errors can be a major cause of patient morbidity, mortality and medico-legal liabilities of medical practitioners.
Upgraded labeling, integrating medico-legal significance and simple, effective and comprehensive communication is the key element in
minimizing errors. In a world where innovation is actively sought out, remedial measures must be taken to include bar-code generated
labels, color coding and increasing legibility of labels. The objective of this study was to appraise if OTC drug labels are fulfilling a
‘consumer-focused’ approach by increasing patient compliance and avoiding adverse drug reactions in a plethora of cases.
