Reinvigorating places with pen & ink - Vol.88(5-6), May-Jun - Mumbai The Indian Institute of Architects 2023 - 103-106p.

Being born in a dynamic Indian city like Mumbai means being acquainted with
at least two other languages, multiple cultures, and delicious cuisines. Every
city has its own charm, but I feel Mumbai is incredibly poetic! Known for its
iconic skyline, bustling streets, and rich cultural heritage, Mumbai stands as a
testament to the indomitable spirit of its people.
A staggering number of gods and goddesses are worshipped here, and there
are thousands of manuscripts that describe their magnificence. In any urban
street in Mumbai, you are certain to find the humming of prayers or a song
mixing delicately with the honking of auto rickshaws or taxis, the rumbling of
the rails, somewhere the roadside book dealer wailing out the names of the
latest books, and the loud calls at the fish market. Here the local trains usually
arrive on time, and rushing for a seat violently is absolutely not against the law,
with the exception of the parts where we struggle to breathe inside a crowded
local train. Where lunch time is at 3 PM and dinner is at 12 AM. Here, people
face hardships but still say "It’s fine". The city that can’t live without the bruh
of Bollywood. Each one more or less comes down to the same thing: a love for
Vada Pav, Pani Puri, and Chai.
