Towards sustainability: analysis of energy efficiency factors in buildings of smart cities using an integrated framework - Vol.104(1), Mar - USA Springer 2023 - 223-235p.

Energy efficiency in buildings is a contemporary challenge accompanying urbanization and rapid development. Developing economies and rapidly growing populations demand new habitats to accommodate growth and development. Buildings need to be smart and energy-efficient to operate most effectively. Effective implementation will be easier if energy efficiency factors in smart city buildings are known and prioritized. This paper presents a list of factors that leverage energy efficiency in buildings, specifically focused on India's national smart cities' mission program. The best worst method and decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory methodologies are utilized to analysis and rank the factors. The results show that smartness in the main factors group and smart contract in the subfactors group are among the top drivers that encourage building energy efficiency in smart cities in India. The relevance to managerial, theoretical, and policy implications has also been discussed.
