Summary, etc. |
From recent past decades, an important mission of structural control is to ensure the safety of structures under large earthquakes. In view, this study considered a ten-storey RCC building with various controls, semiactive VF control, isolation (LRB) control, NZ control and hybrid control to know the building responses under unidirectional excitation due to four realistic earthquakes. The governing equation of motion for multi-degrees of freedom building with and without controls has been solved using state space and Newmark’s integration method. The seismic analysis of building responses is simulated using MATLAB coding and graphics are drawn with Origin software. The seismic response using these proposed controls is compared with respect to the responses of same building without control under the same excitation due to earthquakes. It is observed that both isolation control and semiactive hybrid control are almost similar in reducing the seismic response. Moreover, semiactive hybrid control is relatively better in response mitigation than isolation (LRB) control but most effective is the NZ control amongst all proposed controls. |
