Summary, etc. In ensuring excellent brake performance, brake pad and disc design are essential factors. Friction depends on the design and surface properties of the pad and the disc. In the present work, thermo-mechanical behavior of disc brake assembly is predicted using finite element analysis in Static Structural and Transient Thermal analysis of ANSYS. Static and thermal analysis was carried out on solid discs and ventilated disks for two pad configurations using ANSYS 15 in this work. Two pad profiles have been studied with pure and single slots along with both discs. Firstly analysis is performed on the disc-pad model lacking thermal properties. Deformation and von misses stress has been calculated by structural analysis of the disc pad model. After that, thermo-mechanical analysis is done on the same model with having thermal properties such as convection, adiabatic, and heat flux elements. The prediction results of temperature distribution, total deformation, and von-mises stress are presented. The software tools namely CREO and ANSYS Workbench have been employed for modeling and analysis. CREO is a platform for 3D modeling typically used in the design process. Finite element analysis has been done in Ansys. The outcome of this examination can support disc brake engineers to opt for an appropriate investigation in sort to perilously appraise the structural and contact performance of the disc brake assemblage.
