Summary, etc. | After undergoing the five-year training as an architect, a young student is prepared to step into the real world, equipped with the desired skills and knowledge and the confidence of a new professional and ready to take up new challenges. At this stage, there is a wee bit of confusion about the career path to be chosen by him/ her which is mostly dictated by the market. The graduating architect is already a generalist, and therefore, salary becomes a major deciding factor in choosing their next career path. For the same reason, many students opt for starting independent or partnership practices and looking for work. These new practices often thrive on interior projects, 3D assignments or sub-contracts from bigger firms. Some are lucky and are able to sustain, while others, after a brief stint, fail and again start looking out for jobs under senior architects. Turnkey projects are usually the norm, not to mention the initial struggle. Most of these practices are often multi-disciplinary with civil engineers and graphic designers in the team. |
