Summary, etc. | Charles Correa was not only arguably the most significant contemporary architect of Asia, he was much more - a humanist, a socialist, a philosopher, a thinker, an activist, a protagonist and a teacher - all at the same time. His evolution is the story of a seeker who set out on a ritualistic pathway in search of truth. As he progressed and made his way through uncharted territory, pointers and revelations led him onto comprehensive understandings of man and his context. By context he understood both the manifest and the non-manifest worlds. He tried throughout his life, in thought and action and through his life’s works to bridge the two worlds like a yogi. Correa was born in Secunderabad and grew up in Bombay. He went to St. Xavier’s School and later St. Xavier’s College before travelling to USA for his higher studies. |
