Summary, etc. Metabolomics is one of the powerful tools for quality based assessment, standardization or even authentication of natural products
derived medicine or herbal formulation. Due to increasing commercial utility and mesh-up of natural medicine with the spurious/
adulterated drugs, particularly with those belonging to the same species, consideration of authenticity is being more concerned
to validate the ethnomedicine, based on their quality, safety and efficacy for their regulatory prospectus. As we are aware of the
complexity of phytoconstituents, quality based standardization and authentication of ethnomedicine is still a challenging endeavor for
the researcher to generate scientific data in this prospectus. Modern analytical techniques such as LC-MS, GC-MS and NMR are the
most specific techniques to validate the ethnomedicine concerning their standardization and authenticity by evaluating the multiplicity
of phytochemicals in the form of metabolomes. Quality and quantity based evaluation of phytochemicals not only formalized us with
the comparative and correlative evaluation but also robust the validation symmetry in the authentication of ethnomedicine. Although
due to the large symmetry of phytochemicals among different variables, multivariate statistical analysis summarizes a large number of
variables in the form of a single principal component which makes it easy in comprehensive data evaluation. In this review, an attempt
has been made to point out the metabolomic approach and summarize previous studies conducted with the consideration of quality
based standardization and authentication of ethnomedicine or formulations.
