Summary, etc. fixed displacement swash plate-type axial piston pump acts as a variable displacement when the swash plate position alters from its initial stage. The pressure compensator arrangement is used to alter the position of the swash plate as per the requirement of flow rate. The flow rate depends on the position of swash plate which determines the swept length of the barrel piston. In this exertion, an experimental exploration has been carried out on a commercial pressure-compensated variable displacement swash plate-type axial piston pump. An electrohydraulic circuit has been developed with some essential electrical, electronic and hydraulic instruments to understand the role of pressure compensator of a variable displacement pump as well as how the variation in speed of the motor affects the pressure and flow dynamics of the pump. The importance of separating pressure relief valve dynamics from pump dynamics in such type of hydraulic circuit has been studied very carefully for different cut-off pressure. The effects of load valve transients on pressure and flow characteristics of the pump have also been studied for different demand signals. It is observed that effects due to deadband in the load valve may mislead the interpretation of flow characteristics of the pump at cut-off pressure. Successively, the effect of rotating speed of the motor which is associated with the pump has been studied for a particular load condition and different cut-off pressure.
