Summary, etc. Many studies have been presented till now to predict the behavior of piles subjected to lateral load. However, the comparison of pile response in series and parallel configurations has not yet been thoroughly investigated. The current study intended to conduct numerical investigations to investigate the behavior of two piles in series and two piles in parallel near sloping ground. In present study, the effect of slope parameters like slope angle and edge distance on the response of pile group in ground with slope is investigated. Two arrangements of pile groups, two piles in series and two piles in parallel are considered. Slope angles are 10°, 20°, 30° and 40°, and the edge distances considered are zero, 2D, 5D and 9D. Benchmark studies have been performed on two piles in series and parallel arrangement in horizontal ground. The effect of these slope parameters on displacement at pile top, ultimate load of the pile and maximum bending moment generated has been investigated. With increase in ground slope displacements and moments are found to be increasing. However, with increase in edge distance from crest slope, they are decreasing and approaching toward response for level ground case. Effect of slope is more prominent in parallel arrangement as compared to series arrangement. In series arrangement, the maximum bending moments in pile near the slope are higher than those in pile away from the slope.
