Summary, etc. Supply chain management (SCM) is a specialized perception for the control of logistics and
inventory which has originated from the manufacturing industry. In a very competitive and
complex industry like the construction industry, where demands of the top-quality products at
a very judicious price is the major concern, the implementation of a specialized supply chain
management model in the construction industry has become the top primacy for the full
fledge development of the construction industry. Even though supply chain management in
the manufacturing industry has been widely researched and developed, but application of the
same in construction industry is still not much in limelight. Since construction industry
involves different types of materials from number of different resources which comprise of
the major cost of any construction project, an overall integrated management process like
supply chain management is essential to monitor and control the logistical and inventory
activities of these materials.
