Presently, the traditional methods for tax assessment are causing delays in the process, a large number of unassessed properties remain, and several properties are not assessed correctly due to dependency on manual efforts. Some approaches and innovative technologies have been illuminated to improve the current practice of data collection, record keeping, assessment, updation of property data and improvement in the overall process of property tax management system. The use of Geographic Information System, it is argued, can play a crucial role in the integration of property data with the spatial information essential for management of property tax systems.
