The study has been carried out to develop Green Building Rating Tool (GBRT) for the state of Gujarat of India. Criteria are selected from two Indian rating systems: Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED INDIA Green Building Rating System) and Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). GBRT covers 37 major criteria from six major groups: Sustainable site planning, Health and well-being during construction, Material management, Water efficiency, Energy efficiency, Health and well-being post construction and Waste management. Based on feedbacks from 49 green building experts, criteria weights are developed with the help of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). GBRT performance evaluation scheme has the range of score from 0 to 5. Final evaluation of a building as a Green Building is an interplay between performance score and global weight of criteria. The evaluator needs to collect performance data of building for 37 criteria and input it in the model. Rating of building would be in different categories like five star (score more than 4.5 out of 5) to one star (score less than 3). This rating tool can be useful for developers and builders to find out greenness of their building
