Critical evaluation of GRIHA version 2019 using net-positive lens
By: Chandramohan, Arun.
Publisher: Pune NICMAR 2021Edition: Vol. XXXVI Issue 01.Description: 42-46p.Subject(s): Construction Engineering and Management (CEM)Summary: One of the major sources of Carbondioxide (CO ) emissions in India is the2 construction sector. Moreover, due to the increasing demand for energy in the real estate sector and shortage of supply, there is a high need to move towards sustainable buildings. The net-positive building is considered to be self-sufficient in energy and is also considered to have a significant reduction in carbon footprint. The net-positive evaluation utilizes net-zero criteria as the benchmark. The study critically evaluates the various criteria enlisted in Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) v.2019 (abridged version) using the selected applicable lenses viz., (a) degree of sustainability, (b) level of carbon offsetting achieved, and (c) level of disturbance to the natural environment. The study analyses each criterion in each section with the net-positive lens on reducing carbon footprint and evaluates the level of sustainability that can be achieved. This can facilitate the designers to adopt and modify the techniques that are incorporated into the project in the construction phase and post-construction phase to achieve net-positive rating or sustainability.Item type | Current location | Collection | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode | Item holds |
