By: Suhana, Harindran.
Contributor(s): Labaran, Mushabu.
Publisher: New Delhi CSIR 2019Edition: Vol.58(B), March.Description: 420-422p.Subject(s): GENERAL CHEMISTRYOnline resources: Click here In: Indian journal of chemistry (Section B)Summary: Indoles are an important class of heterocyclic compounds with diverse biological activity. This is mainly because of the unique ability of the compounds to mimic the structure of peptides and bind reversibly to proteins. Therefore, efficient methodologies for the synthesis of various indole derivatives are always of interest to both organic and medicinal chemists. Although there have been several reports for the synthesis of 2-substituted indoles, most of the methods have several disadvantages such as expensive reagents, toxic solvents, harsh reaction conditions, tedious workup procedures and poor yield of products. In the present work, a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of a novel 2-substituted indole has been developed.
