The purpose of this paper is to investigate the concept of VMI from an inter organisational perspective. Inventory models like a) purchase model with instantaneous replenishment and withouut shortages & b) manufacturing model without shortages, are used for fixing EOQ, calculating lead time analysis, setting safety stock & reorder level. These parameters will be applied to carry out performance study on VMI in a steel industry.
