Environmental issues and problems cannot be seen in isolation and need to be understood along with the ever-growing energy demand in India. If we want to make our Indian cities world-class, harmonious and liveable cities, their energy and environmental problems must be tackled and resolved at war footing. London City experienced severe smog and air pollution issues and overcame the problems with meticulous planning and execution. Learnings from London City are taken as references for this paper so that a comparison can be done after proper investigation and analysis to come out with a workable solution that will be efficient, sustainable, environmentally friendly, and of course safe and clean. This paper discusses at length London City's planning, implementation strategies, and experience along with the relevant policies. This case study suggests what India can adopt to make Indian cities pollution-free and healthy liveable habitats.
