The bridge was damaged and 5 piers, including 16 decks, were washed out, and one pier was tilted. The flooding was so furious that the holy Mutt and its surroundings were flooded and submerged. The alternative to rehabilitation and new construction were examined, and finally the Technical Committee of Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL), Government of Karnataka, decided to construct a new steel bridge at the same location, as the cost of rehabilitation was ....
