Induction motors are the most popular of all the electric machines. They find applications in homes, commercial ventures and industrial applications, and are mostly used as motors. This paper presented the influence of change in parameter on the behavior of a three-phase induction motor. Certain values of selected motor parameters were modified to study the effect on the motor behavior. A digital computer software, MATLAB/Simulink, was used for the development of the motor model for comparative analysis. The starting current of the induction motor is large, and this causes jerking of the machine at start-up. Hence, during the starting of the induction motor, the stator resistance and the motor inductance (both rotor and stator) must be kept low to reduce the steady-state time and also to reduce the jerks during the starting. On the other hand, the higher value of stator resistance leads to higher jerks while having much effect on the steady-state time.Item type | Current location | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode | Item holds |
