High gain antenna array (2x1 and 4x1) design for WLAN application

Today they are used for government and commercial applications. These antennas consist of a metallic patch on a grounded substrate. The metallic patch can take many different configurations. However, the rectangular and circular patches are most popular because of ease of analysis and fabrication, and their attractive radiation characteristics, especially low cross-polarization radiation. In high performance aircraft, spacecraft, satellite, and missile applications, where size, weight, cost, performance, ease of installation and aerodynamic profile are constraints, and low-profile antenna may be required. Presently there are many other government and commercial applications, such as mobile radio and wireless communication that have similar specifications. To meet these requirements, micro-strip antennas can be used. These antennas are low profile, comfortable to planar and non-planar surfaces, simple and inexpensive to manufacture using modern printed-circuit technology, mechanically robust when mounted on rigid surfaces, compatible with MMIC designs and when the particular patch shape and mode are selected, they are very versatile in terms of resonance frequency, polarization, pattern, and impedance. All conventional antennas are manufactured in the micro-strip. The micro-strip antenna having the advantages of light weight, low cost and very easy to carry anywhere. Micro-strip antenna is fabricated on the dielectric material known as “substrate”. All the multi layered substrates are of different materials provide high gain & minimum return loss. In this paper, high gain 21 and 41 circular patch antenna arrays designed on FR4 substrate material of thickness. Simulation of antenna array are done by HFSS (high frequency structure simulator) v13.0 are used for calculation of antenna parameter like gain of antenna, return loss, radiation pattern and VSWR of antenna.
