The controversial glass facade of the Academy of Arts in Berlin, which is to be built in 2000 is the latest example of Gunter Behnisch's bold, open and transparent style of architecture, and it is these features which have characterised the work of Behnisch & Partner since the very beginning. Based in Stuttgart, Behnisch's work has taken him beyond the borders of Germany into the Netherlands, Denmark and England, and he has become a celebrated architect throughout the world.
