<br/><br/> The development of therapeutic insulin in 1921 by collaborative effort of four scientists was a landmark breakthrough in the history of<br/>medicine that transformed the management of diabetes that has been afflicting mankind for the last many centuries and not relenting.<br/>November 2021 marks the century of phenomenal discovery. Insulin treatment is promising but not accessible to many in desperate<br/>need. The article highlights intricacies of insulin discovery, evolution of therapy and future leads. Centenary of the discovery presents<br/>a unique opportunity to pay tributes to largehearted Noble laureate scientists and bring about a meaningful change in lives of millions<br/>of people living with diabetes and the millions more at risk.
