Participatory approach in conservation of tradition of arts and craft in history-a way forward - Vol.5(1), Jan-June - Rajasthan Health Education Bureau 2022 - 34-40p.

Art and architecture are classic visual and performing arts representations; they are the
planning and design of buildings or other structures that showcase the aesthetic beauty of
time-tested creativity. Artistic productions such as arts and crafts are unique to each country
and place, and these practices evoke strong associations with people, places, artefacts,
activities, feelings, and sensations. Most of these inspirational and influential factors are
attributed to the development of art and architecture in the form-built environment. Adopting
local traditional art and craft practices from bygone eras can improve the aesthetic and artistic
values of buildings and structures. All of these practices and contents were incorporatedinto
historical buildings and structures as a part of the overall architectural design. Cultural
heritage embodied in traditional crafts is an integral part of a nation which reflects the culture
and tradition of a particular region. Although the importance of handicrafts has been widely
recognized, this study puts forth an understanding of how earlier practices in conservation
and promotion of traditional art and crafts were an element of humane architecture in the
history of building design and interiors. In the context of growing rapid urbanization, the
expected outcomes give direction not only to the planners but also to the stakeholders,
associations and institutions on the effective conservation of traditional art and crafts, and
preservation of the skills and knowledge of a country, region or place.
