This sanskrit shlok highlights the importance of the guru who is part of our rich culture and heritage. It means that, a guru or teacher is a representative of the holy trinity of brahma, vishnu and mahesh: the one, who creates, imparts knowledge and destroys backbone of the nation and the pillar upon which all aspirations can be converted into realities. Teacher's day is celebrated every year on 5 September in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the second president of Bharat, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. This day acknowledges and highlights the contribution of teachers.
