Tanacetum pinnatum Boiss. grows wild in Iran. This paper reports the essential oil composition of T. pinnatum population in 3 provinces of Iran. The essential oil of T. pinnatum was obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Alborz province (Kodashte), plant gives yield in leaves of 0.4% and in flowers 0.6% (V/W). From flowers, that main compounds were α- cadinene (15.91%) and cubenol (6.42%), β- eudesmol(19.47%), (E, Z)- geranyl acetate(12.03%) and α- chenopodiol (7.5%) and α- cadinene (19.94%), cubenol (6.67%), β- eudesmol(18.93%), (E, Z)-geranyl acetate (12.55%) and α- chenopodiol (7.14%) from leaves. The plants of this province have a maximum range of compounds compared with other provinces.
