520 _aWith the ever-increasing urban population in and around Kolkata, the pressure of mass housing in the suburban areas around the metropolitan is also increasing. The project Oikyo (unity in Bengali) developed by the Merlin Group is one such condo-ville with an array of G + 4 buildings for Bengali middle-class households. Situated amidst the quaint town of Baruipur, the Oikyo Experience Centre looks to bring back the Colonial aura. The theme of the project was old Kolkata. It was envisioned that the club would remain at the heart of the complex serving as a place of interaction, as well as hold social and cultural programs which are so essential in a Bengali lifestyle. The client required it to be an experience centre that would eventually be converted into a club for the housing society.
