There are two general varieties of cherries: sweet and sour. Both sweet cherries (prunus avium) and sour cherries (prunus cerasus) are nutrient rich fruits that are good for health. The main difference between sour cherries and sweet cherries is their levels of acidity and sugar. Both cherries are popular temperate fruits mainly due to their excellent organoleptic characteristics, especially sweet cherries. They are important sources of nutrient and bioactive food components.......
