Summary, etc. Mountain biking, an extreme sport demanding a natural setting, exerts a specific environmental impact if not regulated and designed correctly. The International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA), a governing body of mountain biking, has formulated specific trail design guidelines to adopt sustainable principles in trail design to lessen the environment's impact. This study aims to assess the existing trail of 'Turahalli forest,' a hotspot for cyclists around the city for mountain biking, using GIS data in terms of its topography, existing cycle paths, and vegetation comparing it with the guidelines set by the IMBA body. The discrepancies found are recorded, measures to make it a sustainable trail are suggested. Researchers have indicated four major environmental concerns, such as soil erosion, vegetation loss, water deterioration, wildlife impacts, and their solutions are discussed in brief. Using the ArcGIS generated site data and the sustainable trail design guidelines, the feasibility of the existing trail and specific alternate sustainable trail routes in the same sites is suggested. A different trailing systems like white, green, blue, and black trails and planting designs are recommended to curb the soil erosion in the case area.
