| Summary, etc. | The proposed sports centre is planned in proximity to the<br/>existing hostel blocks. Planning had to take care of existing<br/>trees on site (as seen in Fig. 1). Using trees as focal points,<br/>main access and secondary access spines are created (as<br/>seen in Fig. 2). Sports facilities are planned on two levels in<br/>response to the contours on site. The structure is designed as<br/>a non-building emerging out of the existing green ground<br/>(as seen in Fig. 3). There is a gradual transition from the<br/>pergola-covered, double-height main circulation spine to a<br/>semi-open verandah and eventually to the enclosed sports<br/>hall (as seen in Fig. 4). Wide steps and platforms provided<br/>amidst the sporting facility hold cultural activities and also<br/>connect the building to the landscape (as seen in Fig. 5). |
