| Summary, etc. | Based on the census of India 2011 record, 2.2% of the total population of west Bengal is differently-abled. About 27.19% of this section is within the age group of 0-19 years (school going children). A world bank (2007) study has revealed that children with various kinds of disabilities have 5 times more probability to be deprived of school and education than SC or ST children. Even, the maximum percentage of differently-abled children who try to pursue education, rarely improve more than the primary level of education due to the fear of rejection. |
