520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This is the sixth edition of the book Sociology by Anthony Giddens. This new edition includes a whole new chapter on War and Terrorism. The earlier editions of the book were groundbreaking in the way they incorporated complex debates into an introductory text. The science of sociology is not easy, but Giddens manages to explain diverse concepts and theories in a simplified manner. Social debates that have cropped up in the recent days have been given their space, while classic arguments that have been the highlight in previous editions have also been included along with revisions and updates. The lucid and the easy-to-follow language is the key to how Giddens manages to drive home crucial points without making the reader feel lost in a mirage of jargons and theories. Some chapters from the book are Cities and Urban Life, Families and Intimate Relationships, Stratification and Class, Sexuality and Gender, The Media, Education, and Nations, War and Terrorism.

Anthony Giddens is a noted British sociologist, and is well known for his Theory of Structuration and his views on modern society. One of the most eminent sociologists in today’s times, Giddens has authored around 34 books that have been published in more than 29 languages. His books, Central Problems in Social Theory and The Constitution of Society, have brought him international fame and much acclaim from his peers. Currently, Giddens holds the position of Emeritus Professor at the London School of Economics, where he also served as the Director from 1997–2003.
