Analysis of Reactive Power Compensation During Fault Conditions in Power System Using Simulink Model of SVC FACTS Device
Publication details: New Delhi Journals Pub 2019Edition: Vol.5(2), Jul-DecDescription: 1-12pSubject(s): Online resources: In: International journal of electrical power system and technologySummary: Flexible alternating current transmission system (FACTS) devices are capable of controlling the active and reactive power flows in a transmission line by controlling its series and shunt parameters. This work presents a review of comparison of different FACTS controllers in the power system for stability enhancement. The focus of this research is simulation of single-phase TCR (thyristor-controlled reactor)/TSC (thyristor switch capacitor) static VAR compensator (SVC) in MATLAB/SIMULINK to solve voltage regulation and system dynamic performance deficiencies. To support transmission voltage immediately after major disturbances, a thyristor-based controller SVC can be used to provide rapid voltage control. To maintain voltage profile in the transmission system, an SVC is used since many years, which proved itself a highly effective device.| Item type | Current library | Status | Barcode | |
