Thermal properties of solids under varying conditions of pressure and temperature

By: Contributor(s): Publication details: New Delhi CSIR 2022Edition: Vol.60(3), MarDescription: 261-267pSubject(s): Online resources: In: Indian journal of pure & applied physics (IJPAP)Summary: A simple theoretical method is developed to study the properties of solids under varying conditions of pressure and temperature. We have considered different types of materials viz. metallic, hydrides, sulphides and coesites. Unit cell volume, coefficient of volume thermal expansion and bulk modulus have been investigated under varying conditions of pressures and temperatures. The results obtained are compared with the available experimental data. A good agreement between theory and experiment demonstrates the suitability of the model used. It is realized that due to simplicity and applicability, it may be used to a large number of materials and may be of current interest to the researchers working in the high pressure and temperature science.
