From the onset, the project objectives included conservation of heritage buildings coupled with a cultural revival of intangible heritage, improving quality of life in Nizamuddin Basti through socio-economic development measures and environmental development of its green spaces. This book aims to inform the general public about the discipline of conservation and the rationale behind the successful conservation initiative and makes an argument for change in conservation approaches in India. Illustrated with detailed architectural drawings and lavish photographs of the heritage structures, this book documents the conservation works undertaken on the Humayun's Tomb and its neighbouring monuments that have aimed to rede ne standard conservation practice in India
