<br/><br/> The Airport at Jharsuguda, inaugurated by the Worthy Prime<br/>Minister of India on the 22nd of September 2018 is the<br/>SECOND AIRPORT TERMINAL BUILDING IN THE STATE OF<br/>ODISHA.<br/>Popularly known as the Powerhouse of Odisha because of the<br/>large number of power plants located nearby, Jharsuguda<br/>Airport serves this fast emerging economic hub of the State.<br/>This airfield was used way back during World War ll by the RAF<br/>and other Allied Forces to counter Indian Freedom Fighters led<br/>by Shri. Subhash Chandra Bose. After India gained<br/>Independence from Allied Forces, the airfield was abandoned.<br/>A feasibility study was carried out by AAI to revive Jharsuguda Airport, which, by then was occasionally used by general<br/>aviation aircrafts and decision was made to upgrade it for<br/>commercial operations. Odisha Government signed a<br/>memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Airport<br/>Authority of India for development of the State's second<br/>Airport at Jharsugudain Odisha.
