The proposed sports centre is planned in proximity to the
existing hostel blocks. Planning had to take care of existing
trees on site (as seen in Fig. 1). Using trees as focal points,
main access and secondary access spines are created (as
seen in Fig. 2). Sports facilities are planned on two levels in
response to the contours on site. The structure is designed as
a non-building emerging out of the existing green ground
(as seen in Fig. 3). There is a gradual transition from the
pergola-covered, double-height main circulation spine to a
semi-open verandah and eventually to the enclosed sports
hall (as seen in Fig. 4). Wide steps and platforms provided
amidst the sporting facility hold cultural activities and also
connect the building to the landscape (as seen in Fig. 5).
