Moreover, every journey necessarily starts and ends as a walking trip. Little attention has been devoted to the study of pedestrian behavior, flow characteristics, etc., and to use such data in the integrated design of transport infrastructure with due consideration to walking as a mode of transport. Provision of grade separated facilities will ensure the movement of pedestrian safety and comfort and also reduces travel time. A study was conducted in the Chandni Chowk area of Delhi in order to assess the feasibility of providing a grade separated facility (skywalk) for a distance of 305 meters.
