Rasa Theory, from Bharata Muni’s Natyashastra, identifies nine Rasas or emotional states—Shringara (love), Hasya (laughter), Karuna (compassion), Raudra (anger), Veera (courage), Bhayanaka (fear), Bibhatsa (disgust), Adbhuta (wonder) and Shanta (peace) that is evoked through artistic expression. The emotions thus experienced are comparable to those lived experiences created by various architectural features and spaces within buildings.
