In the advanced world new formulations are emerging to address challenges related to drug stability, bioavailability, and patient compliance in the solid dosage form with compression-coated tablets such as sustained release, controlled release, delayed release, extended-release, chewable, effervescent, floating tablets and enteric-coated tablets catering to different therapeutic needs. Tablets contain the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and various excipients like binding agents, diluents, disintegrants, lubricants, and coatings to enhance stability, release characteristics, and palatability. In this, we will discuss the compressed coasted tablet introduction, methods of preparation, classification, and application.
