| 520 | _aIn Architecture, It is apparent that every design has a concept, idea and a source of inspiration behind it. Whenever we start to design a building we take inspirations from some objects, principles or phenomena which we have observed and experienced around us. Most of the object that inspires us are naturally occurring elements which has stood the test of time and has evolved for thousands of years to achieve its current form and still adapting and changing as per the surroundings. Thus, the ability to survive and sustain in nature and fulfils its required functions makes it an inspiration to learn from. In Architecture there is a concept of Bio- Mimicry in which the architects try to get inspirations for their buildings from nature. There are numerous examples of biomimicry around the world, but we will be focusing on nature inspired buildings in Indian context and will try to find-out the wisdom of our ancestors and how we are interpreting it in out context. Furthermore, we will try to find the resemblance in bio-mimicry and traditional architecture by the help examples. The method adopted was identification of traditional or contemporary buildings and comparing them with th structure from where it has inspired mfrom. Furthermore, analysis of these buildings was done on a set matrix to analyse their sustainability and space utilization. At the end it was concluded that Biomimicry can be an interesting process of designing buildings, if the geographical context and cultural relevance of the building has some relevance with the naturally existing forms. | ||
