520 _aresearch, the effects of adding butene, homopolymer to gasoline on the performance of a spark-ignition engine and its pollutant emissions were studied. The tests were accomplished under partial and full throttle conditions (50 and 100%) at speeds of 1500, 2000, 2500, and 3000 rpm. The effects of the significant variables, such as the type of fuels, engine speed, and throttle on the engine performance parameters and pollutant emissions, were investigated by a Design of Experiment algorithm. The results of the experimental tests showed that the addition of butene, homopolymer to the gasoline increased the brake torque and brake power. The results also revealed that by combining the gasoline and the additive, the CO2 and NOx emissions increased. On the other hand, the UHCs and CO emissions from the engine decreased.
