Synthesis and antioxidant activity of novel benzimidazolyl thiazole derivatives complemented by DFT studies - Vol.58B(11), Nov - New Delhi CSIR 2019 - 1279-1283p.
A series of thiazole derivatives containing benzimidazole moiety have been synthesized and their structures confirmed by spectroscopic techniques. The newly synthesized compounds havebeen evaluated for their invitroantioxidant activity. The compounds 3b, 3dand 3cposses much higher radical scavenging activity than the well known antioxidant BHA. The antioxidant activity is further confirmed using theoretical parameters calculated using DFT method with 6-31G basis set. The correlation of the experimental results with calculated quantum chemical parameters indicate that all the newly synthesized compounds have good scavenging capacity.
